Hello and welcome to Facade Comics!

The purpose of this website is to make the process of delivering digital and physical creator-owned comics as streamlined as possible, free from the reliance of large third party platforms.

Who is Facade Comics?

Facade Comics is run by Eric Hetherington (ME!), a comic creator from the icy prairies of Winnipeg who sometimes goes by the name McDuck. Check me out on Instagram or BlueSky or something.

I pride myself on my work horse behaviour when it comes to art as well as my lack of any business tact whatsoever. Facade Comics was originally conceived as a way for me to put all my stuff in one place, although I do have some web experience, it's not my greatest strength so if anything seems broken around here, please allow me a bit of grace!

What is Facade Comics?

Well, like I mentioned previously, this is where I'll be hosting all of my future comic works. I guess you can call Facade Comics my publishing name? I guess that technically makes me a publisher, huh? Well, if you subscribe to that idea then... yes! I'm definitely a publisher! Hahaha! Right now I'm only publishing my own works but I hope to one day be able to publish works for other comic artists too. That would be cool... I think. Hmm.

Here's my logo! I think it's kinda cool. The character resembles Lukas, one of the protagonists from Watchitu, one of my first ever self published comics. So the iconography holds a special place in my heart.

Why does Facade Comics have a membership option?

So for the site, yes there is currently a membership option available (Hopefully it is fully functional by the time you read this). When making this site, it wasn't my intention to create some kind of fancy shmancy ultra deluxe membership sytem with all kinds of perks and prizes or anyting. The membership option is actually designed to cover a very basic principle that I wanted to stand by when it comes to my philosophy conerning digital comic releases. I would personally prefer to release brand new comics or chapters at a premium price while offering older releases at either a discount or just flat out for free. Unfortunately because of a filesize restriction on the part of this site's host (Fourthwall) who manages all of the transactions, digital files cannot be sold for free if they are over 25mb (They must be sold at minimum $1 usd). So the workaround that I have devised is to create a membership tier that charges you $2 usd monthly and just gives you access to any digital comic for free. Basically pays for itself if you intend to read 2 chapters of Frog Hero, right? Plus you'll get access to all my other stuff too. The more comics I make, the better the value grows over time, so at this stage please consider any membership fees a small early investment in me as an artist. I intend to be a little more clear in the future when comes to how I want to handle new releases but I also like the idea of having new releases drop as a timed exclusive premium price before dropping to the regular discounted one after some time. We'll see what makes sense once we get there!

Anyways, I think that covers most of the important stuff. I'll still be plugging away at the site for the next little while so there might still be some updates and stuff over the next few weeks or so as I iron out the bugs. I greatly appreciate you checking out my site and reading all of that mess I just typed out! Sheesh!
